West Bromwich Albion have joined their Sky Bet Championship rivals Stoke City and Middlesbrough in the race to sign Ipswich Town left-back Jonas Knudsen, according to reports from TWTD.

The 26-year-old has made over 150 appearances for the Tractor Boys since signing from Esbjerg, and has been a great servant since arriving in 2015.

But the Danish international has recently fallen out of favour under Ipswich boss Paul Lambert - he has fallen behind new signing Callum Elder in the pecking order at Portman Road and has been absent from the matchday squad for the last three games in all competitions.

Middlesbrough and Stoke are both interested in signing Knudsen earlier on this season, and reports from Football Insider also claim that Tony Pulis and Nathan Jones are both preparing moves to sign the defender in January.

But reports now claim that Darren Moore's West Brom are also interested in the experienced left-back, whose deal at the Suffolk club expires at the end of this season.

The Baggies have stuck with Kieran Gibbs at left wing-back this season, with Conor Townsend really failing to make an impact at The Hawthorns. Albion currently sit in fourth spot in the Sky Bet Championship table, ahead of a clash with Bolton Wanderers on Monday night.

The Verdict

I'm surprised to see Albion linked with Knudsen.

They already have two options at left-back, and other areas need strengthening.

For a cut-price, it could be a great bit of business, but does this move really need to happen?
