Daryl Dike has already shown his bright career ambitions following the completion of his move to West Brom last week.

Dike is set to make his debut away to Queens Park Rangers on January 15. Yet, the striker is hoping that will just be the beginning of a long and successful career with the Baggies.

In an interview last Summer with ESPN, Dike revealed that his ambitions bring him to the very top of the game and that he wishes to have a career alongside the best players and coaches in the biggest games.

“I want to play under the best coaches. I want to play with the best players. I want to play in the Champions League, the World Cup, winning competitions, being the competitor that I am,” said Dike, via ESPN

“As long as I keep pushing myself, as long as I keep surrounding myself with good people, I have the right group around me to achieve those goals - to play alongside the top players and to play at the top level.

“I want to make sure I just enjoy football.”

Dike completed his move to West Brom, for £7 million, on New Year’s Day. The American striker signed a deal to keep him at the club until 2026, having moved from MLS club Orlando City.

The 21-year old competed in the Championship last season with Barnsley, where he scored nine goals as the Tykes earned a playoff spot.

West Brom will be hoping Dike’s goals can help charge their fight for an automatic promotion place to regain immediate entry back into the Premier League for the next campaign.

West Brom are currently fourth, four points behind the automatic promotion places. Valerien Ismael’s side are winless in three games, having drawn two and lost one.

The Baggies drew their last league game 1-1 with Cardiff City, a game that saw three players sent off, including two for West Brom.

The side’s next game comes at home to Brighton & Hove Albion in the Third Round of the FA Cup on January 8.

West Brom next play QPR in the Championship on January 15.

The Verdict

The ambition of Dike is to be admired. West Brom should do everything they can to nurture that type of ambition, and if they can facilitate his development into a world class player then the rising tide will lift all boats.

As of now, West Brom should be happy with the signing. Being able to bring in a striker capable of double figures in the goals tally halfway through the season is massive.

There is still some way to go until the final game of the season, so everything is still to play for. West Brom do have some catching up to do on their rivals. However, this addition should be able to boost their current lack of goals.
