West Brom have had an indifferent decade that saw them establish themselves as a solid Premier League club only to be relegated last season.

The Baggies had a few years under Roy Hodgson where they finished in the top half, and a challenge for the Europa League was realistic.

Since then, West Brom plummeted, but even still, they were a solid mid table club.

Although they were threatened by relegation on a few occasions, the general consensus was that they had too much individual quality to go down, but this was the case last season.

Decisions have been made over the years to appoint certain managers or sign players, that have done the Hawthorns team well.

Here, we look at the best three of those.

Do you agree, or can you think of a better decision that has been made off the pitch that has strongly influenced proceedings on the pitch?

Hiring Roberto Di Matteo was a good decision for West Brom, and his sacking could weirdly also be said to be a good decision.

Di Matteo led the Baggies to the Premier League in 2010 via finishing second in the Championship.

However, shortly after, his commitment to attacking football – that served them so well the previous season – led to his demise at the club and he was relieved of his duties in February 2011.

Roy Hodgson was appointed upon Di Matteo’s sacking, and it proved to be a very wise decision.

Hodgson led the club to three very promising finishes: 11th, 10th and 8th. As soon as he left to go on to better things, such as Liverpool and England, things started to go downhill for the Baggies, who were relegation threatened ever since.

After a decent career at Sheffield Wednesday, Chris Brunt became Mr. West Brom in the Premier League.

The Northern Ireland international has been West Brom’s most consistent player in the last decade, playing in numerous positions.

Brunt has made over 350 appearances for the club and will go down as a Hawthorns legend, so signing him a decade ago will go down as one of the best decisions the club have made.
