West Brom Chief Executive Mark Jenkins has announced that he is to take a 100% pay cut as a result of the club's loss of income brought about by the current suspension of football for an indefinite amount of time.

In a statement issued by Jenkins on West Brom's website to provide an update on the situation the club finds itself in as a result of that postponement, Jenkins confirmed that the club remain in a strong financial position despite the facts they are currently receiving very little income due to the postponement of the current season.

Jenkins revealed that in order to help the club financially, he will be taking a total cut of his salary, with other senior members of club management also taking significant cuts to their wages.

It was also revealed that while the club have considered putting the club's staff on the government's furlough scheme, but that they will not be doing so at the minute, although the club have prepared for such an eventuality, including committing to paying all staff the rest of their wages not covered by the furlough scheme.

Elsewhere, Jenkins confirmed that if they are unable to play football for an extended period, the club will open talks with their players about how to deal with such a situation, adding that he is "confident" they will be willing to play their part in helping the club.

Taking to Twitter to react to Jenkins' statement, plenty of West Brom fans were not surprisingly keen to pay tribute to the club's chief executive for the steps taken with the statement.
