West Brom will not be selling Belgium World Cup star Nacer Chadli on the cheap as they hope to recoup a huge chunk of the outlay they made on the former Spurs man, report Birmingham Live.

Chadli has been tipped to leave the Hawthorns this summer, with a glut of interest in his services resulting in very little.

He had a £17m release clause in his contract according to the report, but that timed out with no side tempted to take advantage.

Chadli joined the Baggies from Spurs for a fee that started at £13m in August 2016, but he hasn't been a success at the Hawthorns.

Reports from Turkey claim there is interest from Besiktas with suggestions that they're willing to offer a £2.5m salary to the Belgian. French side Lyon have also been linked with a move, but that interest hasn't manifested into a solid offers with the Baggies.

Darren Moore recently spoke of Chadli having a future at the Hawthorns, making it more unlikely he'll be sold on the cheap.

However, with major European clubs still able to buy players, it is possible someone will take a punt on the 29-year old.

The Verdict

It is unlikely Chadli will leave on loan, West Brom do not just want the wages off the balance sheet, they want an income to. T

hat can be forgiven, they've not had value for money on the pitch so they may as well fight for some off it.

The statement he's part of their plans is surely just a precursor to fending off any cut-price moves for him, but if someone did offer £9m, would they really hold out, or take the chance and cut their losses?

It'll be interesting when someone does test their resolve.
