West Brom are considering a move for Birmingham boss in the summer as they seek a long-term successor to Darren Moore when the season finishes.

The Baggies surprisingly sacked their former player in March and coach Jimmy Shan was named as caretaker.

However, a failure to land Preston's Alex Neil saw Shan keep the job until the end of the season and he will be in charge for Albion's upcoming play-off games, with a semi-final against Aston Villa looking likely.

Yet, the Mail report that even if they do win promotion next month, the club will be on the lookout for a new boss and Monk is seen as a 'leading candidate'.

The 40-year-old has done an outstanding job at St. Andrew's, coping with a lot of turmoil off the pitch to build a side that was competing for a play-off spot until they were hit with a nine-point deduction.

As well as that, he has done it on a tight budget, with transfer restrictions meaning he predominantly brought in free transfers and loans this summer.

The Verdict

Monk would be a very sensible choice for West Brom as he has been superb for Birmingham as he's really united the club and restored pride.

But, the chance to move across the west midlands may appeal because Albion have more resources and obviously may be a Premier League club too.

So, it will be interesting to see how this plays out and Blues fans won't be pleased with this update.
