West Brom are considering a £17.7m bid for Galatasaray winger Garry Rodrigues as they look to improve Darren Moore's squad ahead of the new season.

The Baggies are on the lookout for a new winger, particularly as James McClean is expected to join Stoke, and reports in the Turkish media say Rodrigues is a target.

He is a player that is well-known to Giuliano Terraneo, Albion's technical consulant, although the fee does seem steep for the Baggies.

However, with Craig Dawson, Ben Foster, Jay Rodriguez and Salomon Rondon all potentially leaving, Moore could be backed with big funds if he can reinvest on potential sales.

And, there's no doubt that the Galatasaray player would be great addition for the Championship side after a magnificent campaign in Turkey, that helped his side to the title.

He registered ten goals and 11 assists in 40 games across all competitions in what was a memorable campaign for the Turkish giants.

Yet, the report states that he would be open to moving to English football, even in the second-tier.

The Verdict

The initial reaction is that it's hard to imagine West Brom splashing out so much on one player but we have seen big money signings in the Championship over recent years.

Clearly, Moore wants a new winger and Rodrigues fits the profile. He is at a good age, seemingly wants to move to England and has the ability to flourish in the Championship.

With a lot of money going out through sales, Albion need to focus on quality over quantity when bringing players in as they look to push for promotion.
