West Brom are weighing up the option of extending both Tyrone Mears and Wes Hoolahan’s contract in the near future, with their current deals set to expire in January.
According to a recent report from the Express and Star, Darren Moore will be discussing the pair’s futures at the club after their game against Sheffield United on Friday.
Both players haven’t been regulars in the West Brom team and some fans will argue that their wages could be better spent elsewhere with the transfer window due to reopen in January.
Moore admitted that he hasn’t made a decision on their futures at the club yet, and is focused on their hectic festive schedule where the Baggies will be looking to remain in the top six.
“We’ve not made a decision on any of the players yet because of the number of games,” said Moore.
“I’m just focused on keeping the team efficient.
The West Brom boss revealed that he hasn’t had time to even think about the possibility of offering any new deals, but revealed he will be looking into the matter in the near future.
“It is something that will come about, but my head is focused on this weekend’s game.
“Next week will present an ideal time to look at things like that before we get into the Christmas programme. Once we get into that we’ll go full steam ahead because it’s five games in 15 days.”
Moore’s side will be focused on getting a positive result against Sheffield United in front of the Sky Sports cameras on Friday evening, where they will look to justify their pre-season promotion credentials heading into the New Year.
West Brom shouldn’t even be considering offering either of them new deals.
They have only featured in a small number of games this season and there are certainly better alternatives available in the transfer market to Darren Moore.
They are both likely to be on quite high wages as well, so they surely will want to invest their money on a better option for the future.
