West Brom supporters will certainly be pleased with their side's promotion chances this season, as they have made a strong start to life in the Championship, with the Baggies currently sat 4th in the Championship table.

There will be a number of players who will be hoping to retain their place in the starting XI for the promotion chasers, but there has been one notable omission from the match-day squad on a number of occasions.

Midfielder Oliver Burke arrived at The Hawthorns in the summer for a hefty price tag, and many supporters will have hoped that he could play a crucial part in their promotion push this season.

Burke is yet to make a league start for Darren Moore's side, which will be hugely frustrating for the 21-year-old.

The Baggies boss provided supporters with an update on the youngster in recent quotes taken by the Express & Star.

"I’m looking at both aspects," said Moore, when asked if Burke could leave temporarily. "I want him to be ready for us of course, but we’ll have a look at it.

"We wanted to put Oli on a training regime where he’s playing a volume of games."

But he is confident that Burke can stake a claim for a regular starting spot in the Baggies squad in the future, providing they can develop the Scotsman who has a number of attributes to his name.

"It’s easy to forget Oli is a young pro and while he’s got some fantastic attributes we are developing him for some versatile roles so when we get him back in the team there’s a clear understanding."

Moore is keen for Burke to get regular playing time under his belt this season to fulfil his exciting potential that he has shown glimpses of in previous seasons.

"It’s important that Oli gets more than bit-parts in games, he needs to get match fit."

West Brom host Brentford on Monday evening as they look to strengthen their grip on the play-off positions, after a recent upturn in form, with the Baggies winning their last three matches in the Championship.

The Verdict:

It certainly isn't a surprise to see Burke potentially moving on loan.

He has huge amounts of potential and he will be keen to reignite his career which has somewhat stumbled this season in Darren Moore's side.

Competition for places is high at The Hawthorns and Burke is seemingly down the pecking order which will be disappointing news to the youngster who will be keen to showcase his exciting potential that saw him make a name for himself in Germany last season.
