West Brom will be desperate to add some more faces to their squad this month, with the Baggies eager to try and seal a promotion back up to the Premier League.

They've already moved quickly to bring in the experienced Daryl Dike, who shone for Barnsley in the last campaign.

However, as reported by The Sun journalist Alan Nixon, they may need to make some sales before they can think about bringing any more new names in.

Valerien Ismael is determined to try and get a promotion for his new side but there's been a lack of goals from their strikers so far this campaign and it has led to a need for recruits in their frontline.

They've strengthened already but the hope is that more business can be done, both in that area and others, to ensure they are prepared for the second half of the campaign.

However, it appears that despite the club's current position in the league and their recent run in the Premier League, they will need to show a few of their current squad members the exit door before they can add any new signings. Alan Nixon claims that 'one or two' will have to be moved on - and that means there is work to be done by the club to ensure they can make more signings before the window closes.

Ismael will need to perhaps put some of his current team in the shop window - and then hope that there are some interested parties. If he can flog some of the unwanted deadwood on, then he can start to think about moulding his own squad again.

The Verdict

Valerien Ismael will no doubt be determined to repeat the feat he achieved at Barnsley last year but go one step further this time and actually secure a promotion at the end of the season.

To do so, he will definitely need to add some new signings to the club if he can this month. He hasn't got a lot to work with at West Brom but he will be used to that from his time at the Tykes. He's already helped make waves with the addition of Daryl Dike but there is still work to be done at the Hawthorns.

The need to sell players will probably come as no surprise but it means that there is work that needs to be done from the boss now. Flogging players on is never easy, especially if they've been sat on the sidelines for a while getting no gametime and not proving their ability.

It won't be an easy task but the Baggies have a decent squad and there will surely be some teams both in the EFL and elsewhere that may fancy taking a sniff at some of West Brom's excess players. Once they are sold, Ismael can start to think about his own signings again.
