Valerien Ismael's first season in charge of West Bromwich Albion is set to kick off in less than two weeks, and he's looking at making several additions to his squad ahead of that.

The Frenchman returned to Barnsley to bring Alex Mowatt with him to The Hawthorns, and he's also added Brighton centre-back Matt Clarke on a season-long loan.

There's still strengthening to be done though and also potential sales that may occur as well, with some of the Baggies' biggest stars attracting top flight attention.

Let's round-up the latest transfer news from the club as we get closer to the start of the new Championship campaign.

According to Spanish publication AS, Celta Vigo want to sell Okay Yokuslu and the Turkish international would like to return to The Hawthorns - despite relegation to the Championship.

Yokuslu is also attracting interest from newly-promoted Watford, but he would accept a move back to West Brom if the opportunity arose, and it's believed that the club have a deal 'on track' with the 27-year-old.

It would be some coup if the Baggies were able to seal a return for the Turk, but Watford and other top flight clubs could have something to say about that.

Baggies in race for ex-Sheffield Wednesday winger

West Brom are interested in a deal for free agent wide player Adam Reach - but face competition from Blackburn Rovers for his signature, according to Football Insider.

The 28-year-old departed Sheffield Wednesday at the end of the past season and with the system Ismael plays, Reach would compete with Conor Townsend for a left-wing-back spot at The Hawthorns.

Tony Mowbray is also an admirer of Reach though and it could come down to who puts the best contract on the table for the versatile left-footer.

Brazilian midfielder Matheus Pereira is expected to leave West Brom this summer - the player wants a departure and he ideally wants a return to the Premier League.

Per the Express, West Ham United have opened talks with the Baggies to try and seal the signing of Pereira, who scored 11 times in the Premier League last season, with a potential loan move with an obligation to purchase the 25-year-old next summer a possibility.

West Brom of course would like to cash in on Pereira immediately if he doesn't see his future at the club, but there's expected to be a bidding war for his services.

Young striker makes temporary departure

After letting talented teenager Josh Griffiths out on loan to Lincoln City for the 2021-22 season, the Baggies have allowed another promising youngster out for the campaign.

Callum Morton, who made just 17 appearances in League One for Lincoln last season, is heading out to Fleetwood Town for the duration of the upcoming season.

Morton will be hoping to find the form he showed at Northampton Town in 2019-20, when he netted eight times in 12 League Two outings.
