West Brom will have scouts in attendance when Peterborough United take on Lincoln City this afternoon as they keep tabs on Jonson Clarke-Harris.
The striker has been outstanding for the Posh this season, with his 29 goals leaving them on the verge of automatic promotion to the Championship.
However, even if Darren Ferguson’s side do go up to the second tier, they are going to have a huge battle on their hands to keep hold of Clarke-Harris, with Rangers and Sheffield United both known to be keen on the 26-year-old.
And, according to Football Insider, Albion are also in the race to land the forward. They claim that Baggies representatives will be watching on this afternoon as they ponder a move for Clarke-Harris in the summer.
There is a high possibility that West Brom will come up against Peterborough next season, with Sam Allardyce’s side needing a miracle to avoid relegation from the Premier League with five games to go.
Nevertheless, bringing in a new number nine is sure to be priority for Albion as they look to bounce back immediately next season.
Do Wolves and West Brom have these 10 things in common?
It’s no surprise to see there is growing interest in Clarke-Harris, because his numbers this season have been incredible and he clearly is capable of playing at a higher level.
For West Brom, they will need a prolific striker next season and the former Rotherham man would fit the bill of the type of player they need.
But, it’s going to be difficult to do a deal as Peterborough are no pushovers to deal with and there will be plenty of interest in his signature.
