Talented West Brom prospect Quevin Castro is starting to attract transfer interest from top European clubs in Germany, Portugal and the Netherlands ahead of the January transfer window, according to Suffolk News.

Quevin Castro only arrived at the Hawthorns during the summer transfer window and he has yet to be able to force his way into Valerien Ismael’s first team in the Championship since his arrival at the Hawthorns.

However, the promising 20-year-old did manage to deliver a strong performance for the Baggies when handed his first chance to start for the first team in their 6-0 defeat against Arsenal in the Carabao Cup back in August. During that game, the midfielder managed to have 34 touches of the ball and completed one successful dribble as he showed flashes of his potential.

According to the latest report from Suffolk News, a number of European clubs including the likes of Borussia Dortmund, Benfica, PSV and S.C Braga watched him in action during that game against Arsenal and have had him on their radars since.

It is also believed by Suffolk News that German outfit TSG Hoffenheim are also keeping tabs on the 20-year-old, while there are a number of League One and League Two sides that are thought to be interested in arranging a loan deal with the Baggies for Quevin Castro.

The verdict

This could be bad news for West Brom because Quevin Castro is a player that they have not yet been able to see the best out of in their first-team up to this point. However, it already seems like it will be a tough task to hold on to him in the long-term with the likes of Dortmund and Benfica all circling him.

The fact that Quevin Castro has not been featuring in the league for the Baggies despite training with the first team will not help West Brom’s cause in keeping hold of him. It could well be that he decides that it is a good time to move on either in January or the summer if that remains the case much longer.

Given West Brom’s injury issues it does seem a little strange that the 20-year-old has not been handed at least a couple of chances from the bench in the league this term. However, Ismael is probably just trying to manage him in the best way possible.

He is only on a two-year deal at West Brom, so that leaves the Baggies vulnerable to maybe having to sell him in the near future. However, in January the best approach surely has to be a loan move because he has too much potential for them to just allow him to leave this early into his career at the Hawthorns.
