West Bromwich Albion left-back Kieran Gibbs is reportedly a top target for Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon, according to Record

The Primeira Liga side have identified Gibbs as their top choice to fill the left-back void at the club, and the former Arsenal man is thought to be very interested in the move.

Gibbs scored once and assisted another as the Baggies thrashed Queens Park Rangers 7-1 at the Hawthorns on Saturday and looks firmly in Darren Moore's plans for the season.

It is therefore unlikely that the 28-year-old will be allowed to leave this summer with the club having turned down multiple bids for other want-away players such as Craig Dawson and Jay Rodriguez.

Tony Pulis brought Gibbs to the Hawthorns last summer, signing from Arsenal, and still has another three years left on the four-year deal he signed at the time.

The verdict

The club have done very well when it comes to keeping hold of players this summer.

Dawson and Rodriguez both looked like certainties to leave at the start of the transfer window, but both have been retained much to the benefit of the club.

I imagine the thought process would be the same with Gibbs. It is most likely too late in the day to bring in a decent replacement and it looks like he is very much Moore's first choice for the season.
