West Bromwich Albion are hoping to recoup £18m from Jay Rodriguez’s potential sale this summer, as Premier League clubs continue to monitor the forward’s situation at the Hawthorns.

Following relegation back to the Sky Bet Championship, Rodriguez could well be on his way out of the Hawthorns, but his signature is going to come at a price.

According to a report in the Birmingham Mail, West Brom are hoping to receive £18m from any sale involving Rodriguez, with AFC Bournemouth and Burnley two clubs said to be interested in the forward.

However, both those clubs are thought to value the 28-year-old at £12m, the same price he was signed for from Southampton last summer.

During the 2017/18 campaign, Rodriguez featured on 42 occasions for the Baggies across all competitions, scoring 11 goals and adding one further assist.

Seven of Rodriguez’s goals came in the Premier League, but weren’t enough to help West Brom avoid relegation, with Darren Moore now preparing his side for the Championship.

Crystal Palace are also reportedly interested in Rodriguez, alongside Bournemouth and Burnley.

The Verdict

The fee West Brom are hoping for and what others are willing to pay is quite a way apart at this stage.

Rodriguez’s record over the last 12 months is good in a struggling side, but it is easy to see why other clubs might value West Brom’s talisman slightly lower.

There is certainly room for negotiations in any deal involving Rodriguez.
