West Brom see latest transfer offer rejected #wbafcWest Brom have had a second bid for Brentford midfielder Romaine Sawyers rejected, journalist John Percy has reported.

It was recently revealed that the Bees had turned down a bid of £2.2million for Sawyers, but it seems that the Baggies have yet to give up in their pursuit of the 27-year-old.

According to Percy's latest update, the Midlands side have now seen a second bid rejected for Sawyers, with Brentford thought to be holding out for a fee of over £3million for the St Kitts and Nevis international, which seems to suggest that West Brom have not upped their bid by all that much here.

West Brom's Championship rivals Leeds are also thought to be interested in the midfielder, while Scottish champions Celtic have now reportedly accepted that Sawyers would prefer to remain in England, despite the Glasgow side's interest in him.

There are just 12 months remaining on Sawyers' contract at Griffin Park, which means that this could be Brentford's final chance to receive a fee for the midfielder, before he has the chance to leave the club for free this time next year.

The Verdict

You can't imagine the two sides are all that far off agreeing a fee here.

With there being just £800,000 between West Brom's apparent initial bid, and Brentford's reported asking price for Sawyers, this second offer can't have been far away from what the Bees want for the midfielder.

Now that those figures have been revealed, you feel that this is a deal that the Baggies are going to have to go for since pulling out of the move over what is a relatively small fee at this level of football would be unlikely to go down well with Baggies fans.

It will be interesting to see if West Brom do indeed up their bid to the necessary amount, and with some fresh attacking impetus required for next season, it is certainly something that they should consider doing.
