West Brom have seen a bid in the region of £2.2m rejected by Brentford for midfielder, Romaine Saywers according to Sky Sports' Transfer Centre (22nd July, 11:53am).

It is claimed that Brentford are keen to be holding out for a club to match their valuation of the 27-year-old, which currently stands at £3m.

Celtic are also believed to be weighing up a further bid for the midfielder, after having their first approach rejected by Thomas Frank's side.

Sawyers has been a key player for the Bees in recent years, and has established himself as one of the first names on the team-sheet.

In total, he's made 135 appearances for Brentford since completing his move to the club from Walsall back in 2016.

But his impressive performances of late evidently haven't gone unnoticed, with West Brom registering their interest in landing his signature ahead of the new league season.

Slaven Bilic will be hoping to add some much-needed depth to his squad before the season starts, and it will be interesting to see if they are tempted to match Brentford's valuation of Sawyers, after seeing their first bid rejected.

West Brom kick their season off with a potentially tricky match against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on the opening day of the 2019/2020 league campaign.

The Verdict:

They need to do everything they can to come to an agreement with Brentford to sign him.

Sawyers has been brilliant for the Bees, and he deserves to be playing Premier League football in the near future, which is something he could do with West Brom.

The Baggies have got a better chance of playing in the top-flight than Brentford have in my opinion, and he'll certainly be tempted by a move to The Hawthorns.
