West Brom remain interested in making a potential move for former Bristol City forward Famara Diedhiou this summer despite rival interest emerging, according to Bristol Live.

It was revealed earlier this summer that West Brom had Diedhiou on their transfer radar as they consider adding to their options upfront ahead of their return to the Championship.

That comes with the 28-year-old having left Ashton Gate at the end of his deal and with it having been believed that his wage demands could make a move abroad to Turkey the most likely option.

A recent report from Football Insider has revealed that Swansea City have now entered the race for Diedhiou’s signature this summer. That comes with the Swans keen to add a forward with proven Championship experience to their squad following the departure of Andre Ayew.

While the same report outlined that Middlesbrough also remain interested in securing an agreement with the 28-year-old that would take him to the Riverside on a free transfer.

The latest update from Bristol Live on Diedhiou’s situation has revealed that the Baggies do remain in the hunt for the forward and that they are still keen on adding him to their squad ahead of the start of the next Championship campaign.

The verdict

This latest update suggests that Swansea entering the race for Diedhiou has not meant that West Brom have cooled their interest in Diedhiou. That should not really come as too much of a surprise and if Valerien Ismael feels that the 28-year-old can add to the quality of their attacking players then the Baggies might be the best-placed English side to secure his signature.

Diedhiou’s wage demands are not going to be cheap, but West Brom should have the resources to agree a deal with him if they do think he can make a major influence for them in the Championship next term. The forward offers the physical presence that Ismael wanted from his forwards at Barnsley last term and he is also a capable scorer in the Championship.

The Baggies might need to move swiftly though to make this one happen because there is interest now from Swansea, Middlesbrough and abroad. West Brom would surely be a move that appeals to the 28-year-old though so if they come in with an offer for him it would be one he would surely be wanting to consider.
