West Bromwich Albion are braced for interest in Jay Rodriguez when the January transfer window opens in under a month.

Following relegation from the Premier League last season, there was plenty of speculation surrounding the future of Rodriguez.

Reports suggested that Burnley were keen to reunite with the 29-year-old in January, with the striker previously shining with his hometown club.

According to the Birmingham Mail, West Brom are now readying themselves for more interest in the New Year, with the report stating that if Rodriguez does depart, Darren Moore will look to replace his striker.

So far this season Rodriguez has been superb in front of goal, with the ex-England international part of the Championship’s most prolific attack.

Moore’s side have scored an impressive 44 goals so far this season, with 10 of those coming from Rodriguez, who has almost doubled his tally for the club now.

The last of those goals came on Friday against Aston Villa and was marred with controversy, with the striker handling the ball over the line unintentionally.

Rodriguez will be looking to add to his already impressive tally on Friday evening when the Baggies go up against Sheffield United – another promotion rival.

The Verdict

It’s no surprise that Rodriguez will attract interest in the winter window, as the striker’s goalscoring form has been superb this season.

There was a lot of surprise when West Brom held onto the forward in the summer and the club will be reluctant to lose him in January.

Interest might come, but West Brom are in a position to command a big fee.
