West Bromwich Albion are interested in signing Sheffield United striker David McGoldrick, according to Football Insider.
Both United and Albion are preparing for life back in the Championship after they were relegated from the Premier League last season.
Ahead of the new season, it is claimed that the Baggies are trying to poach one of the Blades’ most influential players in McGoldrick.
According to Football Insider, West Brom have made an approach for the striker as they look to add a proven forward to their squad ahead of the new campaign.
22 things all West Brom fans simply must know – But do you?
McGoldrick scored eight goals in 35 Premier League appearances last season, winning the club’s Player of the Year award as a result.
When the Blades won promotion in 2018/19, the 33-year-old scored 15 goals in 45 Championship appearances following his arrival on a free transfer from Ipswich Town.
West Brom have made two summer signings thus far, with Alex Mowatt and Matt Clarke arriving from Barnsley and Brighton respectively.
The more I think of it, the more I quite like this potential signing.
West Brom have so much talent going forward in the likes of Diangana, Pereira and Robinson.
You can add Karlan Grant to that list and say that he is the striker who West Brom should be focusing on, but when he scored 19 goals at Huddersfield in 2019/20, he played mostly on the left wing.
McGoldrick is a traditional number nine and would give them a real focal point going forward, and he could be the final piece of the jigsaw.
