West Brom are eyeing a move for Besiktas striker Jeremain Lens, just days after he finalised a permanent move from Sunderland.

According to reports in Turkey, the 30-year old is on the Baggies radar, despite him only having just signed a permanent deal with the Turkish side. He spent last season on loan from Sunderland following their relegation from the top flight, although he also spent the previous season in Turkey with Fenerbahce.

He played 24 times for Besiktas, scoring just once as they finished fourth in the Turkish top flight. He signed for them just a couple of days ago for an undisclosed fee, but Sunderland are thought to have recouped £6m in total, including loan fees.

Lens has represented Netherlands 34 times, scoring eight goals, but made just 20 outings for Sunderland during his time. He joined the Black Cats from Dynamo Kiev for £8m in 2015.

If West Brom do pull off the move, it would echo that of Benik Afobe who signed for Stoke just days after joining Wolves from Bournemouth after a season long loan.

The Verdict

The transfer market never fails to amaze me. Besiktas perhaps saw that they could make some money back from Lens, rather than just letting him go back to Sunderland. He would seem to be a big signing for West Brom if they pull it off too.
