West Bromwich Albion are working on a deal to sign Trevoh Chalobah from Chelsea on a season-long loan, according to Football Insider.

The 19-year-old spent last season on loan at Ipswich Town and scored two goals in 43 Championship appearances, although he was unable to save them from relegation.

Chalobah is primarily a defensive midfielder, but can also play at centre-back and is the younger brother of England international Nathaniel.

The teenager is yet to make a senior appearance for Chelsea, but has impressed for their youth teams and has also represented England at youth level.

West Brom appointed Slaven Bilic as their new head coach earlier this month, over three months after Darren Moore was sacked.

Bilic is looking to strengthen his squad in the transfer market this summer, after West Brom missed out on promotion last season, losing to Aston Villa on penalties in the play-off semi-finals.

The Verdict

I think Chalobah would be a good signing for West Brom. He's obviously got a lot of potential, otherwise he wouldn't be at a club like Chelsea.

He impressed while on loan at Ipswich in the Championship last season and moving to one of the top teams in the league like West Brom would represent a different kind of challenge for him.

I think he will know that he's unlikely to get a chance at Chelsea next season, so maybe he will be open to another loan move to the Championship and he could be able to make an impact at the Hawthorns.

He's a versatile player and would be able a very useful option for Bilic to have in his squad, as he hopes to build a team that will challenge for automatic promotion.
