Sky Bet Championship side West Bromwich Albion are set to reignite interest in Rangers captain James Tavernier in the summer, according to reports from the Birmingham Mail.

The Baggies have been long-term admirers of the 27-year old, who has been in hugely impressive form for the Glasgow club this season.

The modern right-back has been sensational in front of goal this season, scoring 16 goals and producing 20 assists in a total of 55 appearances this term.

Reports claim that Aston Villa are looking to sign Tavernier in the summer, despite his contract at Ibrox not running out until the summer of 2022.

But, it is believed that the Baggies are still keen on signing the right-back in the summer, even though they still don't have a permanent manager in place for next season.

Albion saw a reported £2.5million bid for the former Wigan man turned down last August, and given his impressive form this season and length of contract, he is likely to cost even more this time around.

West Brom will be looking to book their place in the play-off final at Wembley tonight, as they prepare to face Aston Villa at The Hawthorns.

The Verdict

I think that Tavernier would be a very good signing for West Brom if they managed to sign him in the summer.

He is the prime example of a modern full-back, scoring plenty of goals and producing many assists this term, and his stock has risen by a considerable amount.

Albion need a new full-back, with Mason Holgate set to return to Everton upon the expiry of loan spell at the club.
