West Brom plotting ambitious big-money move for 11-goal attacker

West Brom are considering a move for Dinamo Zagreb forward Mislav Orsic as Slaven Bilic looks to strengthen his squad this month.

A run of five games without a win has highlighted the need for reinforcements at The Hawthorns, even though Albion still hold a seven-point lead over third place.

Bringing in more quality in the final third will be a priority for Bilic as the likes of Charlie Austin and Kenneth Zohore haven’t convinced this season.

And, reports from Croatia have suggested that the Baggies could make an ambitious move for Orsic.

The 27-year-old has been a key player for the champions this season, scoring 11 goals in 13 league games and he also hit four in the Champions League group stages – including a memorable hat-trick against Atalanta.

Therefore, Dinamo Zagreb will be reluctant to lose the influential former Rijeka man but the update has stated that Albion could be willing to spend €10m to land the player.

That would be a significant outlay for the Baggies, who are back in action when they welcome Stoke City to The Hawthorns next week.

The verdict

This would be a statement signing for West Brom and it could make the difference in the race for automatic promotion.

Orsic’s pedigree is clear to see, he has scored goals domestically and in Europe, with Dinamo Zagreb competing very well in what was a tough Champions League group.

The versatile forward can cover a few attacking positions and would thrive in the attacking style that Bilic demands, so it will be interesting to see if they can pull this off.
