Bournemouth defender Tyrone Mings has emerged as a loan target for Darren Moore's West Brom, according to a latest report from The Sun.

But the deal is dependent on whether the Cherries can finalise a deal to bring Brentford defender Chris Mepham to the club, with Eddie Howe reluctant to let Mings leave without a replacement lined up.

Mepham is thought to be edging closer to completing his move to the Premier League side this month, in a deal that is set to come with a hefty price tag.

Any deal for Mings is likely to be a loan deal until the end of the season, as he searches for game time, with opportunities limited in Howe's squad this season.

Mings has made just two Premier League starts this season and is already behind a number of defenders at Bournemouth.

But his lack of game time is understandable given that Mings has recently recovered from a serious long-term injuries that have hampered his development.

Mings made the move to Bournemouth in 2015 from Ipswich Town, and he started brightly before picking up a serious knee problem that ruled him out of action for a considerable amount of time.

A move to West Brom would see Mings get the game time he needs this season, which is exactly what he needs to progress after a frustrating couple of years.

It's unlikely that any deal would be completed in time for Mings to make his debut for the Baggies this weekend.

The Verdict

This would be an excellent bit of business by the Baggies.

Mings isn't getting enough game time at Bournemouth at the moment and West Brom are in need of depth in defensive areas.

If he can find his feet in Darren Moore's squad quickly, then he could prove to be a very shrewd addition.
