West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper Josh Griffiths is on the verge of joining League One side Lincoln City on loan for the coming season.

The Baggies are back in the Sky Bet Championship and will be eager to challenge for promotion and an immediate return to the Premier League.

Griffiths could well be a part of a promotion challenge this coming campaign, too, but at Sincil Bank rather than The Hawthorns.

Indeed, that's because talkSPORT's Alex Crook is reporting that he is heading towards a loan deal with the Imps, having recently agreed a new long-term contract with his current side:

The Verdict

This should be a good move for all involved here.

Lincoln City are a good side and will be looking to challenge at the sharp end of League One again in 21/22 after being denied promotion in the play-off final against Blackpool.

West Brom, meanwhile, clearly believe in the player and his talents as they'd not have given him a new deal, and they now get the chance to see him develop and learn at a really decent level of football.

And, for Griffiths himself, it's the chance to be playing senior football and to be exposed to all the trials, tribulations and pressure of competing for success in the cut and thrust of the EFL.
