West Brom winger Oliver Burke has suggested his long-term future lies away from The Hawthorns as he enjoys a loan spell with Alaves.

The Scottish international's career has stalled since he secured a big-money move to Albion from RB Leipzig in 2017 and he has had to go out on loan over the past few seasons.

Burke is currently playing in La Liga but he is due to return to the Baggies in the summer and he will have two years left on his deal.

However, speaking to the Daily Record, the 22-year-old revealed how much he is enjoying his football right now and explained how he wants to get regular game time next season, wherever that may be.

"For me, right now I’d like to find myself a club where I can settle, enjoy and play week in, week out. And find my confidence again, which I’m slowly getting back, to prove all the doubters out there wrong.

"There’s a lot of doubters out there – there’s always going to be – but I’d love to throw it back in their face a little bit. Hopefully I can do my best here at Alaves and I’ll have a bright future."

The verdict

There's no getting away from the fact that Burke's move to West Brom just hasn't worked out at all for the player or the club.

Slaven Bilic clearly wasn't impressed with the attacker in the summer as he sanctioned a loan move and that would indicate his long-term future lies away from the club.

All Burke can do now is keep playing well and he will hope to catch the eye as he prepares for a summer move which looks increasingly likely.
