Sky Bet Championship side West Bromwich Albion are edging closer to completing the signing of Cardiff City forward Kenneth Zohore, according to The Telegraph writer John Percy.

The 25-year-old is entering the final year of his contract at the Cardiff City Stadium, and is now set to undergo a medical with the Baggies ahead of a proposed £8m move to the Hawthorns.

The Danish forward signed for the Bluebirds from Belgian side Kortrijk in 2016, initially on loan, before his move was made permanent in the 2016/17 summer transfer window.

After scoring 12 goals in 30 games in his debut season for the Welsh club, the powerful front-man then scored nine goals in 39 games the following campaign, as Neil Warnock's side won automatic promotion to the Premier League.

But after netting just one goal in 19 Premier League appearances last term, Zohore now looks set to join West Brom, and become Slaven Bilic's second summer signing.

Albion have been on the lookout for a new, prolific forward ahead of next season, with 22-goal star Jay Rodriguez recently departing the club to join Burnley.

With 24-goal ace Dwight Gayle also returning to parent club Newcastle United, Bilic will be hoping that Zohore can find his prolific touch in front of goal.

The Verdict

This signing would be a big statement of intent from the Baggies given how much money they are spending, but you can't help but feel that there are better options out there for the Baggies.

Zohore can score goals in the Championship, but he has never really been prolific, scoring just 22 goals in 89 games for Cardiff.

He's a quick, tall, powerful striker who could really cause opposition defences problems next season, but whether he is good enough to replace Rodriguez and Gayle is a different story.
