West Brom have secured the future of a number of the club's academy stars, with no fewer than eight of the club's prospects signing new deals with the club.

Midfielder Finn Azzaz and defender George Harmon, who helped the club's academy side reach the FA Youth Cup semi-final earlier this year, have both signed new one year contracts at the club with the option of a further 12 months, as have midfielders Nick Clayton-Phillips, Sam Wilding, and Jack Chambers, with defender Dan Meredith also signing a deal with the same structure.

Goalkeeper Brad House meanwhile has agreed to a new one year contract at the club.

The Baggies also confirmed that they have secured the signing of highly-rated 17-year-old Owen Windsor from Cirencester Town, with the club beating off competition for the striker, who scored six goals in seven starts in the eighth tier of English football earlier in the year.

Windsor has signed a two-year contract with West Brom, with the option of extending the deal by a further year, potentially keeping him at the Hawthorns until the summer of 2022.

The Verdict

This should be welcome news for West Brom fans.

Following the high profile departures of Louie Barry and Morgan Rogers to Barcelona and Manchester City respectively earlier in the summer, Albion will not have wanted to face the scrutiny of having any more of their young prospects being poached too easily.

Completing new deals for a number of them here puts the club in a much stronger position to fend off any interest that may come in for them in the coming months.

With the club's run to the FA Youth Cup semi-finals highlighting the potential there is within their academy side, you can see why the Baggies are keen to hold onto a number of these youngsters, giving them the best chance to be the ones to benefit from their burgeoning ability.
