West Brom have announced the signing of Cardiff's Kenneth Zohore.

It comes just hours after the club confirmed the departure of Salomon Rondon, and the new addition is very much a like-for-like replacement for the Venezuelan.

The Dane has signed for a reported fee of £8m and will wear the no.9 shirt, which suggests he will be a key man up front for The Baggies next season.

Following the sale of Jay Rodriguez and the end of Dwight Gayle's loan spell, West Brom have been in desperate need of a striker, with Hal Robson-Kanu the only senior forward at the club.

Zohore has made 230 appearances in his career despite only being 25-years-old, and therefore has a good combination of youth and experience.

In 101 Cardiff games he has 24 goals and 11 assists, but as a target man his main strength comes in holding up the ball and bringing team-mates into play.

He was a key player in Cardiff's promotion from the Championship in 2018. He contributed directly to 14 goals that season and if he can replicate his form from that season for West Brom then they will receive a big help in their promotion campaign.

The Verdict

Zohore still has something to prove but he should be a great addition for West Brom.

His all-round play makes him a very effective forward option and exactly what The Baggies need. He has pace and power and he can score a variety of goals, both in the air and by running at goal and he should get a decent tally this season.

However, if West Brom are relying on him to be their main goal-getter then they may struggle in comparison to last year. Gayle and Rodriguez worked very well together last season and Zohore is capable of getting the best out of a player like Gayle, so they should partner him with someone similar.
