French giants Lyon are reportedly interested in signing West Brom winger Nacer Chadli, according to France Football via Get French Football News.

The Belgian recently arrived back from the World Cup with his national side and interest is expected to intensify around the 28-year-old.

West Brom included a £17 million release clause in his contract when he was signed from Tottenham Hotspur in 2016 and that is expected to be triggered at some point this summer.

Chadli fell out of favour at the Hawthorns last season making just five appearances in the league just a year after he grabbed five goals and five assists.

West Brom signed the winger for £15 million before the 2016/17 season so will be hopeful the release clause will be triggered in order to make a profit.

Lyon are apparently keen to bring in another winger before the season starts and Chadli is near the top of their wish list.

The verdict

This would be brilliant news for West Brom.

Getting £17 million for a player who has not had an impact at the club for over a year is too good to be true.

It is the sort of money that can easily bring in four or five top Championship players and would be a massive boost to their promotion hopes.
