West Bromwich Albion defender Tosin Adarabioyo has given a defiant statement ahead of his side's important Easter weekend.

The Baggies' hopes of breaking into the automatic promotion races are slim but not yet completely extinguished with a nine-point gap needing to be bridged in four games.

Taking to Twitter, Adarabioyo wrote: "We’re at home again on Friday. Playing the last games as cup finals, as we push in these last stages!"

The right-back arrived at the Hawthorns' on a season-long loan from Manchester City, and has gone on to make 27 appearances so far in the Championship.

West Brom picked up a badly needed three points last weekend when they saw off Preston North End 4-1 at the Hawthorns as they head into the Easter fixtures.

Jimmy Shan and his side welcome Hull City to the West Midlands on Good Friday before travelling to relegation threatened Reading on Easter Monday.

The verdict

It is a nice message but an ultimately pointless one.

West Brom will not be making into the automatic promotion places. But Adarabioyo is ultimately right that they need to focus on winning their final matches.

Momentum can be so important when heading into the play-offs and if they can be the ones to go into them in red-hot form then it will take an awful lot to stop them.
