Champions League chasing Spurs are looking into the possibility of signing West Brom youngster Rekeem Harper.

According to the Sun on Sunday, (print edition, Sunday 3rd March 2019), the Baggies starlet has caught the eye of Mauricio Pochettino, who is always on the lookout for some of the top talent in the lower leagues.

Harper has had a breakout season with the Baggies this term and has become a regular starter under Darren Moore despite still only being 18-years-old.

With that good form though and regular starting berth has come the attention of onlooking Premier League scouts however, and Spurs are now leading the race to make a summer move for the midfielder if they can convince West Brom to sell.

Harper has put in some impressive performances alongside the likes of Gareth Barry and Jake Livermore in the middle of the park, but top flight interest will no doubt be something he has to consider if a concrete bid comes his way.

West Brom were hammered 4-0 by Leeds on Friday to put a massive dent in their automatic promotion hopes, a game in which Harper and his teammates were simply over-ran by their impressive Yorkshire opponents.

The Verdict

Harper is a clear talent but whether he is ready for Premier League football yet is another question entirely.

He has been overawed somewhat in recent games against the better teams, and another season in the Championship might be better for Harper.

Spurs love snapping up young talent though, and they might well see Harper as a long-term investment.
