West Bromwich Albion have agreed a deal with Sheffield United to take Callum Robinson on loan for the remainder of the season, according to Football Insider.

The Baggies are currently the highest goalscorers in the division heading into February, but Slaven Bilic is still keen to bolster his options in the final third in Albion's bid for automatic promotion.

Sheffield United's Callum Robinson has recently emerged as a target for the Baggies, as they look to extend their lead at the top of the Sky Bet Championship table after a recent blip.

The 24-year-old scored 13 goals and added a further four assists in 28 games for Preston last season, before joining Sheffield United for a reported fee of £6m on the back of an impressive campaign for North End.

But the Republic of Ireland international has since failed to make an impact at Bramall Lane, making only nine starts in the Premier League and finding the net only twice in a total of 19 appearances thus far.

Football Insider now claim, though, that West Brom have agreed a deal to take Robinson on loan for the remainder of the season, and are confident of finalising a deal before Friday's transfer deadline.

The Baggies are yet to make a signing this month, but patience seems to be a virtue for Bilic who looks set to win the race for his man.

Albion sit one point clear at the top of the Championship table, ahead of tonight's clash with Cardiff City in South Wales.

The Verdict

This is a massive signing for West Bromwich Albion if it is pulled off, and it could be the signing that sees them win promotion.

Robinson was one of the best attacking players in the Championship last season, and contributing to 17 goals in 28 games is a fantastic record given that he spent most of the season on the sidelines through injury.

He started the season off in impressive style for the Blades but his form has been patchy ever since, and a loan move could be beneficial in helping him find his confidence.

That extra bit of quality in the final third could see Albion get over the line this term.
