West Brom are keen on signing Nottingham Forest winger Joe Lolley, although they acknowledge it will be tough to bring him to The Hawthorns.

Albion are on the lookout for a wide man in the January window and the Express & Star have revealed that the Forest man is a target.

The Baggies technical director Luke Dowling previously worked for the Reds and was part of the recruitment team that brought Lolley to the City Ground and the report states he is keen on signing the player again.

Yet, the 26-year-old is a key player for Aitor Karanka and Forest will be reluctant to lose him.

The former Huddersfield man has scored six goals and registered the same number of assists so far this season, with the winger involved in all five goals as his side drew 5-5 with Aston Villa in the week.

Another potential problem for Albion's pursuit of Lolley is that there are reports of Premier League interest in the player.

The likes of Watford and Cardiff have been credited with an interest in recent days, although Forest are able to command a big fee for the player who has three-and-a-half years left on his deal.

The Verdict

Realistically you can't see Lolley selling such a key player in January, especially to a promotion rival.

Therefore, Albion are probably wasting their time if they think they will be able to bring him in during the January window.

Obviously, he would be a great signing as Lolley has been superb this season but you can't imagine he will leave.
