Former West Bromwich Albion player Ally Robertson has suggested that the club will need to improve their away form and stop conceding silly goals in order to achieve their aim of securing a place in the play-offs later this year.

Since handing over the reins to Carlos Corberan, Albion have managed to produce a host of eye-catching performances at The Hawthorns.

The Baggies have won seven of their last eight home games and were particularly impressive last weekend during their clash with Middlesbrough as a brace from Daryl Dike allowed them to claim all three points in this fixture.

While West Brom are thriving in front of their supporters, the club's recent displays on their travels have not been as impressive.

Albion have lost three of their last four away league games and conceded three times at Vicarage Road last month in their meeting with Watford.

Set to face Hull City tomorrow evening, West Brom will close the gap between them and the play-off places to three points if they claim a victory at the MKM Stadium.

Ahead of this fixture, Robertson, who made over 600 appearances for the club during his career, has identified a key obstacle that Albion need to overcome in order to have a chance of securing a top-six finish.

Speaking to the Express & Star, the West Brom legend said: "While our home form has been absolutely brilliant, Carlos Corberan and his team have lost a few games now away from home.

"That is definitely something we need to address and improve on, starting at Hull tomorrow night.
"It can happen, you can get on these runs, confidence and momentum quickly builds when winning in front of your own fans. "But away from home is where the defending has to be good – to be solid and give nothing away.
"Look at the 3-2 at Watford recently, we gave three silly goals away.
"The thing that pleased me most about Dike’s double last weekend was how we scored them from nothing.
"It was great to see the big man up front find the net on both occasions, I’m hoping now that it boosts his confidence for the remainder of the season. "And if we can keep going at home as we are, then that will be just the job. "Looking at the Championship table, there are loads of teams within five or six points of each other.
"So if we can have two or three wins on the trot then that would be brilliant.
"Our next run of four games is against teams towards the bottom end of the table – but that can be a horrible thing to see as there have been struggles against sides like that.
"But it gives us a great chance to get back into the top six now we’ve entered March.
"I’m hoping to see us not give any silly goals away."

The Verdict This is certainly an area that West Brom need to improve upon as over the course of the current campaign, the club have only managed to accumulate 19 points from the 16 league games that they have featured in away from The Hawthorns. By securing their sixth away win of the term tomorrow, Albion will gain some belief that will be useful heading into the closing stages of the season. In order to have the best chance of defeating Hull, West Brom will need the likes of Dike and Jed Wallace to be firing on all cylinders. Dike took his overall goal tally for the season to five last weekend while Wallace has been directly involved in 12 goals in the Championship in the current term.
