West Bromwich Albion have joined the race to sign San Lorenzo striker Adolfo Gaich, reports Argentine outlet TyC Sports.

Gaich, 21, is believed to be attracting the likes of Inter Milan, Atalanta and Gent as well, but according to reports, West Brom have already enquired about the striker who has a release clause of £12 million.

Having worked his way through the ranks with the Argentinian outfit, Gaich has quickly established himself as one of the brightest prospects to come out of his home nation.

He's already made his senior debut for Argentine and looks set to head for Europe this summer.

Slaven Bilic will need to strengthen his attack should West Brom be promoted to the Premier League. This season he's used the likes of Charlie Austin, Hal Robson-Kanu and Kenneth Zohore, but none have really asserted themselves in the side.

This week has seen the return to training for clubs across the Premier League and EFL. Bilic's side will resume their season in 2nd-place of the Championship table, just one point behind Leeds and with 27 left to play for.

It's possible that any transfers could be finalised before the season's resume, if not during, and we could well see Gaich complete his move to The Hawthorns very soon.

The verdict

For the price that West Brom would have to pay for Gaich, they'll really have to be sure about his potential. He seems to tick all the boxes but it'd be a big step to go from San Lorenzo to a West Brom side hoping to play Premier League football.

Baggies fans would likely want to see money spent on the likes of Matheus Pereira instead, but should they get promoted then there'll be much more money to spend on building a top-flight squad.
