West Brom and Middlesbrough have entered the race to sign Charlton's in-form striker, Karlan Grant according to the print edition of the Daily Mail (23/1/19, page 65).

It will come as no surprise to see Grant attracting interest from other clubs, as he already has 14 goals to his name in all competitions for Charlton this season.

The forward is also out of contract in the summer, which is only fuelling speculation that he could leave the Addicks in this month's transfer window.

West Brom's interest in particular will come as a surprise as they are the Championship's top goalscorers this season and arguably don't need to sign Grant this month.

However, Middlesbrough are undergoing a complete revamp of the current playing squad, and Tony Pulis' side could benefit from signing a striker that is in-form this season.

It remains to be seen as to whether an official bid will be submitted by either side, by Gran't future is likely to be away from The Valley in the future, especially if he can keep up this impressive run of form.

The Verdict:

"I'm not sure either club needs Grant this season.

"Both West Brom and Middlesbrough have better options in attack, and Grant would simply be warming a place on the substitutes bench.

"It would be a waste of wages and both sides should steer clear of a move for the Charlton striker this month."
