Championship duo West Brom and Middlesbrough are hoping to land former Derby County striker Aleksandar Prijovic, but will have to beat off three Premier League clubs according to a report on Team Talk.

The Serbian international failed to make a first team appearance for the Rams, instead going on loan to Northampton and Yeovil in a two-year stay at Pride Park.

Since then he's been with Sion, Bolospur, Legia Warsaw and most recently PAOK in Greece, which is where his form has caught the eye of the five English clubs. He's got 50 goals in 81 appearances for them, sparking possible interest.

This season alone he's got 9 in 17 matches, including a goal in the Europa League, as well as bagging for his country against Lithuania in Nations League action.

However, the report suggests that Burnley, Southampton and Crystal Palace are also monitoring the 6ft 3in striker, who could well spark a January bidding frenzy.

He began his career with Parma in Italy, but earned his Derby chance after bagging a hat trick for the Italians as they beat Arsenal youths 4-1.

The Verdict

This is one of those stories that might come to nothing, a name long-since forgotten by English clubs making himself famous once more elsewhere.

Were it not for the previous spell in England it might be dismissed as simply rumour, but with unfinished business could Prijovic want to come back to these shores and show what he can do? Two goals for Northampton isn't exactly a career he can be proud of in England, after all.
