West Brom look to have won the race to sign in-demand defender, Tyrone Mings according to Sky Sports.

The Bournemouth defender has also been linked with a move to Leeds and Aston Villa recently according to the Birmingham Mail, but the Baggies are set to announce they have agreed a deal for Mings.

He has fallen down the pecking order with the Cherries, and it's no surprise to see him heading for the exit door with Eddie Howe's side.

The deal is thought to be a loan deal until the end of the season, as he could have a future with Bournemouth if he can perform to a consistently high standard with Darren Moore's side.

West Brom kept only their fourth clean sheet of the season against Bolton on Monday evening, so it's clear to see where their weak link is in the squad that are challenging for promotion.

Darren Moore desperately needs cover in defensive areas, and Mings would be a versatile option to have in the Baggies squad, as he can play both as a centre-back and at left-back if needed.

Mings' potential arrival could end any hopes of Tyrone Mears being offered a new deal, as his current contract with the club is set conclude at the end of this month.

The Verdict:

This is an excellent signing in waiting for the Baggies.

They are in need of additional depth in defence this season, and Mings will certainly provide them with that going forward for the remainder of this years campaign.

He will be confident of forcing his way into the starting XI when he arrives at the club.
