West Brom are lining up a move for Brentford attacking midfielder Romaine Sawyers should Nacer Chadli leave The Hawthorns in this window.

The Belgian international, who is at the World Cup, has put in some impressive moments in Russia which could see a side offering a deal.

Chadli came on and played a crucial role as Belgium overturned a two-goal deficit against Japan in their last 16 clash, scoring the winner from a stunning counter-attack.

And, if he does move on Albion are hoping to bring in Sawyers according to the Express & Star, who is a player the Albion staff know well.

Boss Darren Moore and first-team coach Jimmy Shan know the 26-year-old as he came through the Baggies’ academy but was released five years ago.

However, he has since shone at first Walsall and now Brentford and the Bees will sell Sawyers for the right price.

He played 42 games for Dean Smith’s men last season, scoring four goals and impressing with his creativity and technique.

The Verdict

You would imagine that Chadli will leave this summer and the release clause means Albion will have little say in the matter.

Therefore, it’s good to see that the club are lining up replacements and Sawyers will be a fine addition.

He has proven himself as a good player in this division and would add a lot to the Albion squad.
