West Bromwich Albion are said to be readying a £8 million deadline day deal for QPR winger Matt Phillips, according to the Daily Star.
Phillips has appeared in every single Championship game for Rangers this season, who lie 13th place in the league. However, they will be disappointed with that considering many were tipping them for promotion straight back to the Premier League.
The former Wycombe & Blackpool man has five goals and four assists for his side this year, making him their joint top scorer in all competitions and outright top scorer in the league.
Phillips made 79 appearances for the Chairboys before moving to then Premier League side Blackpool, where he scored 12 goals in 94 games for the club.
With his Premier League exprience, he could be an excellent asset for Tony Pulis’s side, and add extra pace to their attack.
The Baggies came close to signing Phillips last summer, as part of a double move alongside former team-mate Charlie Austin. However, the deal relied on Saido Berahino leaving the Midlands, which he did not.
The Daily Star believes that the deal does not rely on Berahino leaving before Monday’s deadline.
