West Bromwich Albion want to imminently wrap up a deal for Swansea City defender Kyle Bartley, according to football journalist Alan Nixon.

Jonny Evans has already left to join Leicester City and defensive duo Craig Dawson and Ahmed Hegazi are both attracting interest from the Premier League, leaving West Brom potentially short at the back.

Bartley has now emerged as a top target and Darren Moore is working hard to get this deal over the line quickly.

The Baggies face competition from Birmingham City and Leeds United for the 6ft 4in centre-half but are hoping to get this deal done.

Bartley impressed in the 2016/17 campaign for Leeds and was wanted back by the Whites.

Swansea also want to keep the 27-year-old for their Championship campaign but the player could look for an exit after finding chances hard to come by at the Liberty Stadium.

West Brom are also working on a deal to sign veteran defender James Collins, who is a free agent following his release by West Ham United.

The Verdict

The former Arsenal man has had so many loan moves and he needs a fresh break somewhere now, whether that is at West Brom, Birmingham or Leeds.

He still has plenty to offer and if he stats fit, he is one of the best in the division.

Bartley could be a superb addition for the Baggies.
