West Bromwich Albion forward Callum Morton is wanted by Cheltenham Town on loan, according to Gloucestershire Live.

Cheltenham are preparing for life in League One after winning the League Two title last season, and have identified Morton as a potential target.

Cheltenham fans will be familiar with Morton, after the 21-year-old scored eight goals in 12 games whilst on loan at Northampton in the second half of the 2019/20 campaign.

Morton netted a brace against Cheltenham in the play-off semi-finals, with Northampton coming from 2-0 down to win 3-0 away from home and 3-2 on aggregate.

Morton spent last season on loan at Lincoln City, scoring three goals in 21 appearances for the Imps in a season which was hampered by injury.

He now looks set for another loan move away, with Cheltenham said to be among the clubs interested in signing him this summer.

Morton is yet to make a first-team appearance for West Brom, but has been a regular for their Under-23s' in recent seasons.

The Verdict

This could be a really good signing for Cheltenham.

Morton has proved himself at League Two, but a full, injury-free season in League One is the next step for him after a frustrating campaign at Lincoln.

Cheltenham need to freshen things up going forward to compliment the talent they already have in the final third of the pitch.

He is a pacy player who likes to play on the shoulder, and he could prove to be a fine signing for the Robins as they prepare for life in the third tier.
