West Brom have been handed some good news to start 2019, as it was revealed that Jay Rodriguez has had his red card overturned.

The news was announced on the club's official website, and many supporters are sure to be pleased by this latest update.

Rodriguez was dismissed for violent conduct against Sheffield Wednesday at the weekend and that proved crucial as the Baggies were forced to settle for a point thanks to a last gasp David Jones own goal.

But they will feel hard done by, as had Rodriguez been on the pitch, he could have fired them up the table with an all important three points.

The Baggies are now 3rd in the Championship table and will be hoping to build on their recent impressive run of form when they take on Blackburn Rovers today.

Due to the red card being overturned, Rodriguez is immediately available for selection against Tony Mowbray's side in what could be a potentially tricky fixture for Darren Moore's men.

The West Brom boss will be pleased to see Rodriguez available as he has been one of their key players this season as the Baggies target an immediate return to the Premier League following relegation last season.

The 29-year-old has 12 league goals to his name already this season and will be keen to add to that tally at the earliest of opportunities.

The Verdict:

This is excellent news for West Brom.

With Rodriguez facing a three game ban, he would have missed some crucial games early in 2019, so Darren Moore will be overjoyed at the red card being overturned.

He has been one of the star players for the Baggies this season and Moore will need his best players available to him on a regular basis if they are to have any chance of gaining promotion this year.
