West Brom fans should be completely unfazed following latest striker revelation

West Bromwich Albion look like they will need to win promotion via the play-offs if they are to make an immediate return to the Premier League.

They currently sit in fourth place with just eight matches of the season left to play but with seven points between them and second-placed Sheffield United.

That gap opening up was a big reason for Darren Moore being relieved of his managerial duties three weeks ago, after a heavy loss to Leeds United and a 0-0 draw with Ipswich Town.

But their place is almost guaranteed in the play-offs and that is something that Jimmy Shan and his troops should be looking to build momentum for now.

They were given a bit of news on Tuesday however, when it was revealed that on loan striker Salomon Rondon would not be eligible to play in the end of season event, report the Express and Star.

The Venezuelan has spent the season out on loan with Newcastle United but is due to return to the Hawthorns before the play-off final.

But an EFL rule change last season closed this loophole, making him completely ineligible for the potential Wembley trip.

So, how should the West Brom fans feel about this news?

I struggle to see why they should care to be honest.

Yes, Rondon is a good striker, but Dwight Gayle and Jay Rodriguez have both been excellent this season.

They have formed a lethal partnership and their traits are well known by the rest of their teammates.

Throwing Rondon randomly back into the side would cause far too much disruption and the Baggies are better off without him.
