West Brom reportedly failed in a last minute attempt to bring Stoke City attacker Bojan to the Hawthorns on deadline day, according to the Sun on Sunday (Page 59).

Darren Moore was keen to bring in another attacker and tried to take the Spaniard from their league rivals on a season-long loan before Friday's deadline.

The Barcelona academy graduate moved to the Bet365 stadium in 2014 for just £3million but has struggled badly with injuries ever since and has failed to recapture the form he showed in his early appearances.

The Sun reports that Moore switched his attention to Bojan after being knocked back in his attempts to sign Blackburn attacker Bradley Dack on the same day.

But the manager will have to make do as no new faces arrived at the club on deadline day.

He did not seem to need them on Saturday however as they beat Bojan's current club 2-1 at the Hawthorns with Dwight Gayle grabbing both the goals.

The striker has formed a killer partnership with Jay Rodriguez in attack and backed up by Harvey Barnes and Matt Phillips is one of the deadliest front lines in the league.

The verdict

Moore's eagerness to bring in more attackers surprised me slightly considering the attacking options he already has at his disposal.

Another body may well have been useful but going for top targets like Dack and Bojan was bizarre from the manager and was never going to work.

I don't think they will struggle, but a loan from the Premier League may have been a better option if Moore was so keen to bring someone else in.
