West Brom have failed with a late move for Blackburn talisman Bradley Dack, despite the Baggies being prepared to pay up to £15m for the attacking midfielder.

Darren Moore wanted to recruit the talented 24-year old after losing Nacer Chadli who completed a £12m move to Monaco yesterday.

The West Midlands outfit made a move for the former Gillingham man around the same time, with an initial offer of a loan with a view to a £5m move rejected.

However, Sun journalist Alan Nixon has revealed that Albion went back with a huge offer to try and convince Rovers to sell just hours before the deadline.

His report states that they were prepared to take him on loan, then pay an initial £11m for the player, with a further £4m in add-ons when the window opens, but that offer has also been rejected by the Lancashire club.

Rovers see Dack as a key player for their campaign, which has started well. Tony Mowbray's men have picked up nine points from five games and are in fifth place.

The Verdict

This is a massive bid from Albion and it must've been hard for Blackburn to turn down.

However, you have to praise their ambition from a football perspective as they knew a replacement wouldn't be found in time and he is such a key player for the team.

Whether this is revisited in January remains to be seen but it shows just how serious both clubs are about having successful campaigns.

Thoughts? Should Rovers have accepted that offer? Let us know in the comments below.
