Championship promotion hopefuls West Brom are targeting a move for Arsenal attacking midfielder Emile Smith-Rowe.

The Baggies are in the market for someone who can add some goals to their team after seeing the impressive Harvey Barnes recalled by Leicester City, and according to the Birmingham Mail via a report from the Mirror, they are looking at signing the Gunners youngster.

Smith-Rowe is highly thought of at the Emirates and manager Unai Emery will see a move to the Championship with a club like West Brom as the ideal scenario to develop the youngster's game further.

The 18-year-old has featured and scored for the Gunners this term already in the League Cup, and he is thought to be a big part of the plans the club have going into the future.

However, game time will be vital for Smith-Rowe, and he might get just that at West Brom under Darren Moore, who showed massive faith in the departed Barnes and was rewarded with a series of fine performances in the first half of the season.

The Baggies sit fourth in the Championship at the moment and can go into the automatic promotion places with a win this weekend.

The Verdict

Smith-Rowe is a massive talent and it would be a coup for the Baggies if they can pull off his signing.

His performances for the Gunners have already drawn some attention and some time down in the Championship with a club challenging for promotion might well be the ideal move for him.

This sounds a good deal all around to me.
