West Brom have suffered a setback in their chase for striker Abdoulay Diaby, with the 27-year-old reported as saying the Hawthorns is not his 'dream destination'.

Het Laatste Nieuws - reported by Sports Witness - allege that the Club Brugge striker does want a move away from Belgium, but that West Brom is not where he would ultimately like to be playing next season.

They're not the only side to be dismissed in such a way, both Levante and Leganes are also in the hunt but neither are where the player wants to end up.

Diaby scored 15 league goals for Brugge last season in his 34 appearances and has 12 caps for Mali, with five goals for his country.

He started out at Sedan before a move to Lille, but he struggled to break through at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy, moving to Brugge after just three appearances during his two-year stay.

Brugge are reported to be happy to let the diminutive 5ft 8in striker leave for the right price.

The Verdict

That's that then Baggies, just leave it now. There's no point in pursuing a player who doesn't want to move to your club, or one who claims it isn't his 'dream destination'.

Diaby has had a decent season in Belgium, but if he's fixed on a Premier League move he could be waiting some time.
